Generating many errors as shown on the screenshot. Appreciate some ideas on how to fix this up.

Comments: I can definitely repro this. But could you clarify one thing? You mentioned that: "The reason I upgraded to the latest version of Express in my application was because the Visual Studio UI popped up a MessageBox saying I should upgrade to the latest version of Express." What kind of message box was that? You should get one prompting you to install express when creating a new project, but that should give you 3.3.4, not 4.4.3. I can't think of anything that'd tell you to upgrade...
